A pleasing design

Recently my brother came to me with a request to do his web site. He had a colour scheme in mind, and some elements of designs that he liked. What a pleasure to have someone who has a good idea of what they want! So I had a look at all of these, and started working at it.

Of course the down-side to someone like that is that often they will look at something you've done, and they won't like it. Then you have to go back to the drawing board and start again. Mind you, it's the same for folks who have no idea of what they want.

One thing in my favour was that my brother wasn't in a rush for his site, so I had the time to think about designs and try a few ideas out first. Eventually I took what I had done to him, and he was really happy with it. The next part was creating a Drupal theme from the design, but that's usually a fairly easy and quick step.

At the end of it all, I was really pleased with the design myself. It's 100% standards compliant, according to XHTML 1.0, it looks good, it's Web 2.0-ish, and the graphics and effects work well together. It's a very attractive design, in my opinion.

If you'd like to see the design, have a look at my portfolio, the site is Mic Professional Music.

Oh, and if you're in the Boland (South Africa), and you're looking for someone who can play music for your wedding, write up some sheet music for you, or organise a production, check out his site. He's really enthusiastic about it, and he puts all he's got into it. You wouldn't be disappointed.
